About Mrs. Loomis

Hello, students and families!

My name is Jennifer Loomis, and I am so excited to be teaching here this year! I look forward to working with you and getting to know you all! So here is a little about me.

Born in New York, I moved to Sarasota, Florida when I was ten years old. I am a product of the Sarasota County School system, graduating from Riverview High School. I went on to study at the University of Central Florida and finished my Bachelor's degree in English Education at the University of South Florida in 2003. I earned my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Argosy University in 2008. I taught at Sarasota High School for six years before moving here to Booker Middle School. I am certified in English 6-12, ESOL 6-12, Journalism 6-12, and am currently working on my Reading Endorsement. I occasionally speak at the State College of Florida to their Alternative Teacher Certification program students.

I am happily married to Nathan, who is also a teacher. We celebrated eight years of marriage this summer. We have one son who will be two years old in November and are expecting our second child in February 2011. We love to spend time with family and friends, at the beach, eating out, and volunteering with our church's youth program as well as music teams.

My teaching philosophy is this: All kids deserve to learn. I am here to lead them in that process. I will do whatever it takes to teach, mentor, and facilitate them to become what it is they dream to be.
